Nelly Furtado has a new video called "Promiscuous Girl" and, well, it's pretty promiscuous. Watch it below:
Does this video strike you as a little odd, especially considering the name of the artist – Nelly Furtado? Remember the song that made her famous – "I'm Like a Bird"? Here's a quick hit of some of the song's lyrics, in case you forgot:

Hmm…sounds a little different to me. Clearly an instance of an artist with no talent simply "trying a different style of music", or in other words, "making no money with her original style and choosing to make cheap club music for some quick cash." This kind of reminds me when Jewel sold herself out with her album 0304. It's too bad, because I kind of liked Nelly Furtado in a girly, pop-music sort of way.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! She went from I’m like a bird to….lick my pussy…. It’s sad. I had much respect for her after seeing her in concert several years ago. Now, with her sunken facial features and new-found ’sexual self-exploitation’, i.e., whoring herself for MTV, I can’t help but think the coke’s getting to her.
How can you start a career with nothing but seeming inspiration for girls….and turn into a complete prostitute and become a cheerleader for promiscuity!?!?! Don’t get me wrong, I think women should be free to choose the course of their sexual lifestyle as they see fit. I do not judge women based on their sex lives. I am far from a prude, and I don’t support conservative values.
HOWEVER, when you become a pop icon, you have NO CHOICE but to take into consideration the model that you inevitably become through the pop genre, to millions of young, desperate to be cool, sheep/girls…and boys! It is one thing to go out to a club and do the things described in this song…if you can call it that; but it is completely another to model this type of dangerous and degrading behaviour and MARKET it to youth who are willing to do ANYTHING to be like the stars. The conservatives have taken sex ed out of the schools, but Nelly Furtado’s teaching them how to prostitute themselves…how lovely. Now my daughter will know how to be a whore before she knows how to put a condom on.
